DESCRIPTION:<h3><b>La tour Cesar, un temoin du Moyen Age
 provencal</b></h3>
 
 <p>Situee sur le plateau de la Keyrie, pres
 d’Aix-en-Provence, la tour Cesar aurait ete construite vers 1385 a
 l’initiative du chanoine Isnard, prevot du chapitre
 d’Aix.</p>
 
 <p>A cette epoque, la Provence connait une periode
 troublee, marquee par des conflits politiques et des bandes armees
 qui pillent les campagnes. La tour joue alors un role de surveillance
 : perchee sur les hauteurs, elle permet de reperer les dangers et de
 donner l’alerte afin de proteger les habitants et les environs
 d’Aix.</p>
 
 <p>Haute d’environ 14 a 15 metres, cette tour
 cylindrique possede des ouvertures etroites permettant notamment le
 tir a l’arc. Elle est egalement connue sous les noms de tour du
 Prevot et tour de la Keyrie.</p>
 
 <p>Contrairement a ce que son nom
 pourrait laisser penser, elle n’a aucun lien historique connu avec
 Jules Cesar : elle date du Moyen Age, et non de l’epoque
 romaine.</p>
 
 <p>Restauree en 2007, elle demeure aujourd’hui un
 temoin precieux de l’histoire locale et un lieu de passage apprecie
 des randonneurs.</p>
